Río Attitude

What if we turn a difficult situation around and see it as an opportunity to improve ourselves?
This is the Río attitude that permeates the entire company

Do you know how it all started?

In the mid-1970s my father, Jesús Lence, almost lost everything. To avoid bankruptcy, he decided to accept three milk transportation trucks as payment from a customer. That’s how Leche Río, which is now called Río de Galicia, was created, the result of our founder’s desire to improve.  Our products are the result of the enthusiasm, efforts and desire to improve on a daily basis of all the people who make up Río de Galicia: employees, farmers and our suppliers. We wish to convey our positive attitude so that you can remember that, even if your pitcher full of hope gets broken, each sunrise is a new opportunity to make your dreams flourish. Río de Galicia milk nourishes your desire for self-improvement.

Sponsorships

ío de Galicia backs sport by sponsoring the basketball clubs Leche Río Breogán and Ensino Lugo, which also share the values of the Río Attitude that permeate our company, such as effort, desire for improvement, perseverance and teamwork. They reflect the model we want to promote in society, focusing on the importance of physical activity, personal improvement and perseverance; and also, in the case of Ensino, our contribution to women’s sport, helping to breach the inequality gap between women and men in high-level competitions.

Responsible attitude towards our environment

What can we do as a company to maintain environmentally sustainable growth?

The new Río de Galicia milk cartons are our main contribution to the circular economy, seeking to make the most of natural and renewable resources in our cartons. Discover them!

Fully recyclable and highly renewable packaging

We are committed to sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging. The plant-based Tetra Brik® ASEPTIC EDGE we use is manufactured using sustainable and renewable sources such as sugar cane and wood fibres from responsibly managed forests certified by FSC®. Our packaging is 89% plant-based and even our cap is made of plant-based plastic, manufactured from sugar cane.

In addition, a fully recyclable PET bottle

Our 1-litre bottle and the 1.5-litre family-size bottle can be deposited directly into the yellow recycling bin.  The aluminium has been eliminated from their composition, maintaining optimal conditions for the conservation of the milk.

Innovative design

Un diseño innovador

Innovation is the creation of new products, the optimisation of production processes to contribute to the circular economy and give back to our environment some of what it gives us.

Innovation also means finding formulas for the professionalisation of traditional family farms and investing in young entrepreneurs who want to make rural life sustainable.

Innovation is having the vision and ability to dream up goals and putting all your efforts into making them come true. Our innovative attitude is reflected in the new design of our Río de Galicia milk cartons. The only ones that tell a story on their 3 sides. Which is yours? We look forward to hearing it.
